Laki the main port of Leros
The gulf of Laki is the biggest of the island of Leros and one of the most
natural harbours of the Mediterranean,
because of its Geographic position
and nature was used during the World War II as the main naval station by the
Italians .Laki is the main port of the island and boats arrive here bringing passengers and merchandises from
Athens and the other islands to
Leros. The distance to the main town of Leros Platanos and Agia Marina are 3 Km. There are bus and taxi
connections. Laki has a unique architecture of Art Deco made by the Italians during the 30 years of
occupation. All the streets are wide and covered from Eucalypt and Pine trees. From
Laki you can hike to the west towards the beaches of Koulouki ,Merkia and further to Katsouni the cape at the entrance of the
Gulf. All the way the road is going through Trees .You will discover many beaches ideal for pick nicks and daily excursions where you can enjoy your
swimming fishing and diving .In most of those small beaches you will enjoy them private.
